Report of the sea squirt Pyura aff. longispina (Stolidobranchia: Pyuridae) with three siphons in the Gulf of Mexico

- Ascidians of the family Pyuridae are solitary organisms, their anatomy includes two siphons, one oral and one atrial. Reports mentioning three or more siphons are rare. The goal of this contribution is to report the abnormal condition of a sea squirt Pyura aff. longispina with three siphons. In July 2020, 122 solitary ascidian organisms were collected; a sample was dissected to observe the internal structures. One organism had two atrial siphons and one oral siphon. This abnormality is related to a regeneration process and does not appear to affect the biology of the individual.

- Signalement d'une ascidie Pyura aff. longispina (Stolidobranchia : Pyuridae) à trois siphons dans le golfe du Mexique. Les ascidies de la famille des Pyuridae sont des organisms solitaires, leur anatomie comporte deux siphons, un oral et un atrial. Les signalements d'individus à trois ou quatre siphons sont rares. L'objet de cette contribution est de rapporter la structure anormale d'une ascidie Pyura aff. longispina à trois siphons. En Juillet 2020, 122 ascidies solitaires ont été récoltées, un échantillon a été disséqué afin d'observer la structure interne. Un individu possédait deux siphons atriaux et un siphon oral. Cette anormalité est liée à un processus de régénération et ne semblait pas affecter la biologie de l'organisme.
