New morphological data on the rare fish Microichthys coccoi Rüppell, 1852 (Actinopterygii: Perciformes: Epigonidae) from records in the Strait of Messina

- Sporadic records of stranded specimens in the Strait of Messina represented the only source of information about Microichthys coccoi Rüppell, 1852 until the beginning of the 21st century, when some occasional reports by trawl surveys occurred in eastern Aegean, north Tyrrhenian, north-eastern Ionian, and Balearic seas. Until now, some uncertain exists about the areal, ecology and biology of this rarely collected species, and its morphological features have not been exhaustively described. In this paper, the stranding of two further specimens is reported, together with the first description of the sagitta and the palatal teeth. Some insights into its biology and ecology have also been suggested.

- Nouvelles données morphologiques du poisson rare Microichthys coccoi Rüppell, 1852 (Actinopterygii : Perciformes : Epigonidae) échoué dans le Détroit de Messine. La documentation sporadique de spécimens échoués dans le Détroit de Messine constituait la seule source d'information à propos de Microichthys coccoi Rüppell, 1852 jusqu'au début du 21ème siècle, où quelques signalements de la Mer Egée orientale, de la Mer Tyrrhénienne, du nord-est de la Mer Ionienne et du Bassin des Baléares étaient produits par des campagnes de chalutage. Jusque-là, quelques incertitudes demeuraient sur la distribution, l'écologie et la biologie de cette espèce rarement collectée, et ses caractères morphologiques n'avaient pas été complètement décrits. Dans cet article, l'échouage de deux nouveaux spécimens est documenté, et la première description des dents sagittales et palléales est réalisée. Quelques éléments concernant la biologie et l'écologie de l'espèce sont aussi proposés.
