Abstract:
The holothurian Lissothuria braziliensis is herein reported for the first time from the intertidal rocky shore of Gran Canaria Island (Canary Islands). This constitutes the first record of the genus Lissothuria in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. We present a detailed diagnosis and illustrations of the species and its ossicles, together with brief notes about its ecology at the new locality and an updated key of the genus. Furthermore, we discuss about the occurrence of L. braziliensis in the Canary Islands and consider that the species should be threated as cryptogenic.

Premier signalement du genre Lissothuria (Holothuroidea : Psolidae) dans le nord-est de l'Atlantique. L'holothurie Lissothuria braziliensis est signalée pour la première fois sur la côte rocheuse de l'Île de Grande Canarie (Îles Canaries). Il s'agit du premier signalement du genre Lissothuria dans l'Est de l'Océan Atlantique. Une diagnose détaillée est présentée, ainsi que des illustrations de l'espèce et de ses sclérites, de brèves notes sur son écologie et une clé mise à jour du genre Lissothuria. En outre, nous discutons de l'apparition de L. braziliensis dans les Îles Canaries et nous suggérons que cette espèce doit être considérée comme une espèce cryptogénique.
